In the early 1900s, the colorless zircon was used to
simulate the diamond in jewelry pieces made to be affordable for everyone to
purchase. Blue zircons were a favorite of Victorian artisans. Over the course of
time, jewelers also availed themselves of the various other colors that make up
the palette of this versatile gemstone. Since it is so adaptable and sparkly,
it gives turquoise a run for its money when it comes to being the December
birthstone. At Peter Suchy Jewelers, we look forward to showing you some of our
most exquisite pieces.
White Gold Pendant with Neon Blue Zircon and Diamonds
The jewelry maker chose 14k solid white gold to cradle the
3.96cts blue zircon. Measuring 9.1mm by 7.2mm, the gem features a European cut.
Thirty-four round diamonds weighing .20cts bring additional sparkle to the
party. Note the hinged bail at the pendant’s top, which is perfect for hanging
it from a chain or from a length of pearls.
Pink and Green Gold Pin with Blue Zircon
Using multi-tone gold, the artisans picked the 14k solid
version for the setting. The green and pink hues are very pronounced and easy
to see. The bright blue zircon is round and weighs in at 2.25cts. Due to the
workmanship of this piece, we date the pin’s creation to sometime between 1935
and 1940. This beautiful jewel is suitable for daily wear at the office or as
an accent piece when going out for a night on the town.
White Gold Pierced Dangle Earrings with Oval Blue Zircons and Round Diamonds
The 14k white gold carefully frames the oval blue zircons
weighing a combined 3.80cts. Each gem measures 8mm by 6mm. Underscoring the
brightness of the zircons are eight round diamonds weighing .08cts. These
pieces are beautiful and very chic.
Multi-Tone Gold Blue Zircon Bracelet
Although the base metal is 14k solid yellow gold, the
individual links of the bracelet also feature green and pink gold. Three
medium-blue zircons are part of this bracelet. They weigh 2.25cts. The length
of the jewel is 7.25 inches. Because of the use of multi-tone gold and the
shaping of the links, we date this handmade piece to the 1930s.
White Gold Art Deco Ring with Blue Zircon
This cocktail ring easily becomes the focal point of your
jewelry ensemble. The artisan chose 14k white gold as the setting that holds a
genuine blue 3.05cts zircon. Look closely at the filigree and the engravings
that surround the bezel setting. Art Deco evidence, which dates the ring to the
1930s, is clearly visible.
