Vintage Hand-Painted Jewelry: Perfect Last Minute Gifts for any Occasion

Painted jewelry was a fashionable gift item during Victorian, Edwardian and Art Nouveau periods. While modern day jewelers still delight in occasionally creating small runs of hand-painted pieces, the true collector opts for the vintage painted jewel. Likely the only – or last – one in existence, it is the type of gift that awes recipients every time. If you are looking for some last minute gifts, Peter Suchy Jewelers have an exquisite collection of painted pieces that might just fit the bill.

Yellow Gold Portrait Pin or Pendant from Italy with Diamonds

The artisan chose 18k solid yellow gold as the pendant setting for this painted portrait pendant. Due to the addition of a closure on the back, it is possible to wear the pendant as a pin. We believe that this female portrait was painted in Italy. It measures 33mm by 24mm. When worn as a necklace, it comes with a 24-inch length of rope chain. Three full-cut diamonds weigh .03cts and beautifully accentuate the piece.

Yellow Gold Pin Featuring a Boston Terrier Painting on Quartz

This gorgeous pin is made of 14k yellow gold. It features reverse-carved quartz that shows the hand-painted likeness of a Boston terrier. Due to the careful artisanship of this piece, we date it to the 1930s. This pin is a sure conversation starter.

Yellow Gold Pin and Pendant Featuring a Porcelain Enamel Portrait with Pearls

Wear this 1 1/8 inch by 11/16 inch piece of 14k yellow gold as a pin or as a pendant. It features a piece of hand-painted enamel on porcelain. The careful detail work of the frame as well as the embellishment with six natural 1/2mm pearls let us date this gorgeous piece to the 1840s or slightly later. You have to see the careful artistry of the piece to believe its intricacy.

Pierced Earrings featuring Reverse Hand Painted Quartz Depicting Sailboats

The artisan selected 14k yellow gold as the setting that would cradle the quartz. It has been reverse carved and features hand painted sailboats with a young boy. These round earrings have a .57-inch diameter. The colors have beautifully captured the essence of the maritime setting.

Pink Gold Oval Pin Featuring Woman’s Portrait

We date this pin to the early 1900s. It features 14k pink gold and displays a woman’s portrait. Done on a porcelain background with baked on enamel, this oval piece measures 60.1mm by 50mm. It is a showstopper!
