Enameling is the Hallmark of Gorgeous Vintage Jewelry from across the Eras

Fusing glass powder to metal via high heat is a technique commonly known as enameling. Historic evidence shows that this practice had already been discovered when the ancient Egyptians adorned their jewelry and household goods. Because well-done enamel sets in bright jewel colors, artisans from around the world and across the centuries prized the technique as a superior practice when making jewelry. If you are ready to add enameled jewelry to your collection, Peter Suchy has a number of stunning pieces.

Gold Bee Pin with Diamonds, Sapphires and Enamel Accents

Made from 18k solid yellow gold, this bee pin features black and yellow enamel. Two round sapphires weighing .10cts make up the eyes. The wings are adorned with pave diamonds. A total of 12 round diamonds weigh .50cts. The legs are colored with green accents. This whimsical piece measures 15/16 inches by 15/16 inches. This is a stunning pin that features plenty of interesting detail work.

Gold Clip and Post Earrings with Citrine and Black Enamel

These clip post earrings come all the way from Italy. They are made from 18k solid yellow gold. Crafted in the 1960s, they showcase expertly applied black enameling of the dome portion. The gemstone is untreated cabochon-cut citrine weighing 20.0cts. These earrings can easily serve as the focal points of a jewelry ensemble.

Gold Dragon Pin with Freshwater Pearls and Enameling

The artisan chose 14k yellow gold as the setting for this dragon pin. It is an exquisite piece of 3-d jewelry making. There about 67 4mm white Chinese freshwater pearls adorn the body of this dragon. The luster must be seen to be believed. Green enamel beautifully offsets the white and gold of the pin. Wear this jewel and you will have plenty of folks leaning in for a closer look.

Gold Ring with Amethyst, Diamond and Enameling

A cocktail ring by design, this piece features 14k yellow gold. We date the ring to the 1930s. A flat-top round fancy-cut amethyst measures 18.5mm in diameter. At the center of this gem is a rose-cut diamond weighing .10cts. An additional four rose-cut diamonds accentuate the exterior of the ring. They weigh .04cts. A Greek border gives this jewel a decidedly international flair. This gorgeous piece will turn heads.

Gold Pin with Floral Motif, Diamonds and Multiple Enamel Colors

Green, orange, and various blue colors make up the bulk of this striking floral pin. The setting material is 18k solid yellow gold. The enamel has been used to color in the flower petals. A total of 18 single-cut diamonds weigh .36cts and provide plenty of sparkle as flower centers. This pin measures 1.75 inches by 1.12 inches. Wear it with a single-color blouse or top for best display.
