Edwardian Rubies Make Wonderful Christmas Morning Surprises

We recognize the Edwardian era to span a short 14 years. Starting in 1901 and ending in 1915, there is a bit of overlap with the end of the Art Nouveau movement and the beginning of the Art Deco period. Of course, the Edwardian style did not miraculously cease at 12:01 a.m. on January 1, 1916. As a result, there were still some pieces made in this fashion as late as the 1920s and 1930s. The ruby was one of the favorite gemstones of Edwardian artisans. Peter Suchy Jewelers are delighted to have a beautiful selection of Edwardian rubies that are going to make wonderful Christmas morning surprises for that special someone.

Ruby and Diamond Pendant

Artisans chose platinum as the setting material for this visually stunning piece of jewelry. This Edwardian piece has clear Art Deco influences. The focal gem is a cabochon-cut round ruby weighing .50cts. It is translucent and bright red. It is surrounded by 12 European-cut diamonds weighing .25cts. They are bead-set. A 16-inch platinum chain holds the pendant. This necklace beautifully accentuates a green garment.

Ruby, Onyx and Diamond Dangle Post Earrings

Made for pierced ears, these dangle post earrings feature 18k white gold as the setting material. Each earring features four square rubies measuring about 2mm. The stones have a decidedly light purplish hue that beautifully tints the gem color. A round black onyx measuring 5.5mm provides a visually stunning counterpoint. Adding plenty of sparkle and luster, the artisans added 64 round diamonds weighing .80cts. Whether the gift recipient has short hair or wears long hair down or swept up, these earrings are certain to generate plenty of attention.

Oval Ruby Pendant with Diamonds

For the setting material, the jewelry maker chose 18k solid white gold. It prominently displays a 2.12cts blood red oval ruby in an old-European cut. Surrounding this amazing stone are 49 full-cut diamonds weighing .30cts. This pendant is gorgeous.

Star Ruby Pave Drop Earrings with Diamonds

Like many Art Deco inspired jewelry pieces of the Edwardian era, these drop dangle earrings are made of platinum. Each earring displays a bright red star ruby; the cabochon-cut oval stones weigh a combined total of 1.50cts. The gemstones are surrounded by 72 round diamonds weighing 1.0cts.
