Defined by the stock market crash, the Great Depression and
dust storms in the Great Plains that led to
the term “Dirty Thirties,” the 1930s witnessed the waning of the Art Deco
movement. Although designs were still largely geometric, the size of the stones
decreased while the setting material of choice remained 14k gold. Of course,
for those not suffering from a loss of funds, there were breathtaking jewels of
epic sizes to be found.
Aquamarine and Diamond in Platinum and Gold Ring
The 18k yellow gold setting with platinum accents
beautifully enhances the clarity of the aquamarine, which is the main stone in this ring. Measuring in at 5.08ct, this aquamarine has been given the cushion
shape. It is accented by 12 single-cut diamonds that populate the split shank
top. The white color of the aquamarine and the accompanying diamonds fool the
eye into believing this stone to be a diamond as well. Notice the slightest
hint of blue in the gem.
Gold Swan Earrings
The Art Deco style elements are indisputable in this pair of 14k pink and green gold earrings. Made for pierced ears, the play of the
different gold tones is attractive and offers an elegant option for the wearer
who does not want to introduce any stones to the mix. Accentuate a stone
pendant or ring with these earrings.

Red Coral Ring in a Rose Gold Setting
A cocktail ring at its finest, the 12k rose gold setting
holds a red coral in the cabochon cut as center stone. Measuring 20mm by 12mm,
the coral is untreated but highly polished. Minute flecks of white show the
coral to be genuine. If you love to wear red, this is the 1930s ring that
exemplifies your love for this color family.
Emerald and Sapphire Gold Ring
This easily qualifies as the ultimate Art Deco cocktail ring of the 1930s. The 14k pink gold setting holds an untreated cabochon emerald.
Pink sapphires – all untreated – surround this 20.00cts gemstone. Two
European-cut diamonds round out the look of this stunningly unique ring. This large
ring is rumored to have been owned by actress Marjorie Main.
