Some of Our Favorite Edwardian Jewelry Pieces

Designed between 1901 and approximately 1915 – and even thereafter – Edwardian jewelry was a style made popular in previously Victorian England. When Edward VII took the throne in 1901, the country was at peace and the economy grew by leaps and bounds. Due to an increase in social mobility brought on by new wealth, jewelry pieces favored expensive gemstones and diamonds. Designs were elaborate and cheerful. The newly rich had the money to spend and did not mind showing it.

Owning a piece of Edwardian jewelry is easy, and there are plenty of choices for the discerning buyer. Remember that the Edwardian era is somewhat fluid due to its brevity. The change in style did not occur automatically on the day of his coronation just as it did not abruptly end on the day of his death.

Ribbon Bow Pendant and Chain

This handmade pendant and chain feature European-style diamonds. There is a good chance that this piece was made just before 1900, which would place it at the earliest stages of the Edwardian style. The centerpiece measures 1 7/8 inches and showcases an oblong onyx. There are two European-cut diamonds and 28 rose-cut diamonds for ornamentation. The material is platinum. Measuring 15 inches in length, the necklace and pendant are gorgeous.

Platinum Diamond Post Earrings

Falling into the latter part of the Edwardian era, these earrings were created between 1920 and 1930. They feature two round and 34 mele diamonds. The settings are fashioned of platinum. The intricate filigree design bespeaks opulence and an affinity for luxury.

Hand-Pierced Platinum Ring Featuring a Diamond

Showcasing a solitaire with plenty of accents, the exact total carat weight sits at 1.16. The setting is platinum and the European-cut diamond is certified. This piece dates to the beginning of the Edwardian era.

White Gold Diamond Pin

The setting is made of 18k white gold. Crafted sometime between 1930 and 1940, this piece features 35 transitional cut diamonds that offer a total weight of 1.65cts. The pin portion works beautifully and does not show any signs of repair or later additions.

Platinum Chrysoberyl Cat’s Eye and Diamond Ring

The timeless beauty of the cat’s eye chrysoberyl dates to the 1900s. Set against the milk and honey coloration of the stone, the cat’s eye is crisp and quickly apparent. The setting is platinum. A collection of 16 round diamonds complete the look of this ring. With a total carat weight of 2.07, this piece is a steal.
