More Inlaid Jewels!

Our Asch Grossbardt post has inspired some readers to ask about more inlaid jewelry pieces. Although this design house is by far the most famous when it comes to this type of jewelry, it is not the only one. We have scoured our inventory to present you more inlaid jewels that are not from the prestigious Asch Grossbardt bench but come from designers that are just as famous and well regarded in their various specialties – of which inlaid designs are but one facet.

Gold Ring with Inlaid Opal

This ring does not feature a hallmark. The unnamed jeweler used 14k yellow gold to create the ring setting that cradles seven pieces of inlaid opal. The width differential between top and bottom is only 2mm, which makes this piece ideal for daily wear.

Gold Ring with Inlaid Turquoise from Mauboussin Paris

We date this ring to the 1960s. It features an 18k yellow gold setting that holds five pieces of inlaid turquoise. They measure 8.90mm by 4.35mm. Once again, the width differential between top and bottom is only 2mm. We recommend this ring for a collector wearing a size 6.5 since it is impossible to size without marring the design.

ASA Gold Ring with Recessed Diamond

To say that this ring is unusual would be an understatement. For starters, it is an Alaskan handmade original that features a recessed center diamond weighing .25cts. Artisans blackened the gold behind the diamond to create a dark setting. The inlay, in this case, consists of natural gold nuggets from a 1960s Alaskan find. The combination of 14k yellow gold with nuggets and the diamond in its unusual setting makes this very likely a one of a kind piece.

James Kaufman 1980s Inlaid Pendant Enhancer

The designer started the piece with 18k yellow gold. Cutting and combining opal, intarsia, malachite, and lapis led to the creation of an attractive mix of blue, green and white stones. At the top, you notice a triangular tanzanite with blue to purple hues. It weighs .50cts. From top to bottom, the enhancer measures 44.22mm. Its width measures 33.9mm. This piece is a rare find for anyone who loves blue tones and vintage Kaufman designs.

Victorian Onyx Pendant with Inlaid Polished Stones and a Pearl Border

This is a fantastic must see. Artisans in the late 1800s created the pendant with 14k green gold. The onyx center features inlays consisting of coral and other polished stones that create a floral presentation. One-hundred forty-four seed pearls surround the piece in two rows. An 18-inch chain allows for comfortable wear of this 23.8mm by 31.08mm pendant.
