The month of June has two birthstones: alexandrite and
pearl. Alexandrite is a rare gem that did not enter the trade until the 1830s
when miners first discovered it in Russia. Its color, depending on the
lighting, shifts from a green to a purple tone. Pearls come in a variety of
sizes and quality ratings. It has been said that the well-dressed woman’s
jewelry box must contain at least one strand of pearls. If you are shopping for
a gal with an upcoming June birthday, we have an attractive variety of
alexandrite and pearl pieces.
Vintage Alexandrite Ring with Diamonds in a Filigree Setting
The artistry of this ring’s design is over the top. It
starts with a 14k yellow gold setting that artisans pierced for the display of
stunning filigree designs. Along the sides, it looks as though there was a vine
of leaves. The star of the show is a gorgeous alexandrite that changes its
color as previously mentioned. A pave of 18 full-cut diamonds bring sparkle to
the mix. Their combined weight is .20cts. She will love the attractive ring
that easily accessorizes any wardrobe choice.
1930s Baroque Pearl Pendant with Diamond Pave
You do not frequently see the words platinum and filigree
mentioned in the same sentence. In the case of this extraordinary pendant, you
do. Coming from the 1930s, jewelry experts created a platinum filigree setting
that holds a diamond pave consisting of 64 round stones with a combined weight
of 1.90cts. The baroque South Sea pearl displays tints hinting at green to blue
and pink. It is a top-quality specimen.
It is interesting to note that you can wear this pendant in
three different ways, depending on your use of the bail. You may wear the pearl
and diamond pendant separately, or choose to wear the pendant upside down. This
is the kind of piece that you need to see to believe. Better yet, touch it and
put it around your neck to get a good feel for its beauty. (The pendant comes
with a 16-inch chain.) She will love this thoughtful present that is really three
gifts in one.
Large Baroque Pearl Necklace from the Peter Suchy Workshop
Every so often, we run across some stunning gems or pearls.
At that time, we custom create a setting for these pieces that shows them off
to their fullest potential. Case in point is the 19-pearl necklace. We used 14k
white gold for the setting. The pearls shimmer from silver to white and display
a gorgeous baroque look with iridescent overtones. Sizes vary between 19.49mm
by 15.86mm to 25.39mm by 21.17mm. We also created a diamond clasp that features
129 single-cut diamonds with a combined weight of 2.0cts. Designed in a floral
pattern, the clasp features a white freshwater pearl measuring 11mm in its
middle. Wow!
