When we recently discussed inclusions, we must have hit a
nerve. Folks want to learn more about these “flaws” that transform a gem into a
unique piece of art. In fact, they want to see more examples. We have looked
through our inventory of rings for pieces that display moderate inclusions,
which heighten the beautiful nature of the gems. Which one is your favorite?
1970s Bright Blue to Purple Tanzanite Ring with Diamonds in a White Gold Setting
The use of 14k white gold brings out the startling beauty of
this bluish cabochon-cut, high-dome tanzanite. It weighs 9.75cts and displays
moderate inclusions. Sixteen round diamonds encircle this gem. They weigh a
collective 1.20cts. There is reason to believe that this tanzanite may be a gem
originating from the original mines. For a full effect of the inclusions, look
at the ring from the side; you will not be disappointed.
Art Deco Tiffany & Co. Columbian Emerald Ring in Platinum with Diamonds
Combine rarity with a wow factor. We date this piece to the
early 1900s. A Tiffany & Co. original, the platinum setting holds a cushion
sugarloaf cut Columbian emerald cabochon. The bright green color is a hallmark
of the stone’s fantastic quality. It weighs in at 3.60cts and displays moderate
inclusions. For sparkle, jewelers added 16 round diamonds with a combined
weight of .48cts. There are another two step-cut trapezoid diamonds with a
total weight of .40cts. An additional two baguette-cut diamonds weigh in at a
collective .08cts. For a vintage ring hitting all the right notes, look no
further than this piece.
1920s Art Deco Platinum Ring with a Sri Lanka Sapphire and Diamonds
Artisans created a platinum ring setting that hints at a
ribbon design. Its main feature is the Sri Lanka sapphire weighing in at
25.0cts. Its bright blue color is all natural and rare. Moderate inclusions and
color zoning heighten the beauty of the piece. Jewelers added sparkle to the
piece in the form of 26 full-cut diamonds with a collective weight of .30cts.
They stud the fanciful setting. If you only look at one of our rings today,
make it this one.
1930s Art Deco Star Ruby Ring in a Platinum Setting with Baguette Diamonds
Coming from the height of the Art Deco era, this 1930s
platinum setting holds a dazzling purple to red star ruby. It weighs 13.24cts
and is a rare specimen. Look closely at the moderate inclusions; they almost
seem to mimic circular bands you would associate with a solar system. To
enhance the great look of the ring, artisans added two baguette-cut diamonds
with a combined weight of .50cts. It is fair to say that this is the kind of
jewel you only very rare see.
