Vintage Platinum Puts a Sparkle in Diamond Pendants!

As a symbol of prestige, 18th century King Louis XV of France determined that the rarity of platinum elevated the metal to a material that only royalty could wear and use. A white metal, platinum is exceedingly durable and adds a sparkle to any jewelry piece. Due to the material’s density, it also adds weight to the pieces, which makes them feel more substantial. During the Art Deco period, platinum was a favorite setting material. At Peter Suchy Jewelers, we know that the love affair with this metal is still going strong. We carry several pendants that are perfect for gift giving this year.

Multi-Sectional Vintage Platinum Pendant with Diamonds

There are three hinged sections to this sparkling pendant. Made by hand, a bottom diamond weighs in at 1.60cts. A second diamond has a weight of .98cts. Three additional round diamonds make up the studs of the hinged bail. They weigh a total of .03cts. Due to the superior artistry that went into making the piece, it lays flat when worn around the neck. This accentuates the sparkle of the diamonds and the platinum setting material.

Platinum Pendant with Art Deco Diamonds

Highlighting the period’s affinity for geometric shapes beautifully, we date the stones of this Art Deco pendant to the 1920s. A shield-cut diamond weighing .69cts and an emerald-cut diamond weighing .47cts bring a lot of shine to the table. The beveled edges of the top stone’s cut add a visually stunning bit of drama to the presentation. In this pendant, the gemstone cuts do the talking.

Art Deco Platinum Filigree Pendant with Diamonds

Made in the 1920s when the Art Deco movement was sweeping the nation, this handmade piece features a European-cut diamond weighing.25cts. Another eight European as well as single-cut diamonds stud the pendant and weigh a total of .12cts. To add visual depth, the artisans added two baguette-cut sapphires that also play off the diamond and setting’s sparkle.

Platinum Pendant Featuring Stud Diamonds and Centerpiece

We date this pendant to the 1930s. It features a marquise-cut diamond from this time. The stone weighs .12cts. Another 24 round and transitional-cut diamonds add their sparkle to the piece. They weigh in at .15cts. The overall length of this pendant is 7/8 inches, which makes it perfect for daily wear or as an accent to a formal gown or cocktail dress.

Platinum Diamond Pendant with Black Enamel Accents

During the 1920s, skilled artisans set to creating this amazing pendant. It is handmade and features gorgeous black enamel accents. While the center section of the piece is made of platinum, the bail and a hinged bottom portion are fashioned from 20k white gold. Three European-cut diamonds weigh .59cts. This is a truly dramatic piece.
