At Peter Suchy Jewelers we are always excited when one of
our rings is used to pop the question. We were also happy to help John “secretly”
purchase the perfect ring to say “Will you marry me?” to Chloe under the Eiffel
Tower in Paris! But this proposal took some tricky planning.

Women love to peruse jewelry and in Chloe’s case, her
passion for Art Deco jewelry always had her browsing the World Wide Web for
unique Art Deco jewelry. One day, Chloe came across a stunning emerald cut
diamond ring—Art Deco style right from our eBay store.
The ring has a center stone of 2.09 carats in an Art Deco
Emerald step cut with two straight step cut baguette diamonds with a combined total carat weight of .45 on each side. Set in platinum, it was Chloe’s dream ring.
The ring obsession began and Chloe’s insistence on
purchasing the ring was continually knocked down by John.
“You’re crazy!” John told her. “I am not, not buying that
ring!”
Determined to have it, Chloe called Peter Suchy Jewelers and
was told the ring had been sold. Sadly, Chloe politely told us she understood
and thanked us.
John Plans
When a man plans a marriage proposal as a surprise, no one
we know has topped this secretly-planned proposal by John. After swearing he
would not buy the ring and consoling Chloe on her attempts to purchase the ring
on her own—John planned—and planned.
Once John saw the love of his life Chloe’s eyes brighten in
delight when she first saw the ring and her subsequent obsession, John secretly
called Peter Suchy Jewelers and asked if he could arrange to purchase the ring
and have us keep it “on ice” for a few months. He also instructed us to tell
Chloe if she called, the ring had been sold.
We are romantics at heart so we instantly agreed! John knew
this Art Deco diamond ring was Chloe’s desire and so after purchasing the ring,
John had more surprises up his sleeve.
A Trip to Paris!

John and Chloe had been planning a trip to visit Paris and
London for a few months—during the secret ring purchase—and John knew he would
be “popping the question” in Paris—the most romantic city in the world.
Again John dug into his secret bag of secrets and although
Chloe thought they’d be visiting London after Paris—she actually viewed the
fake travel itinerary—John rearrange the trip and its events. Instead, he
planned a romantic picnic under the Eiffel Tower at sunset.
Out came a stand-in ring with plane tickets not to London,
but to New York City—just a hop away from our showroom in Stamford,
Connecticut. Of course Chloe said yes and was swooped away on a plane to New
York City. After landing at the Newark Airport, John arranged for a private
limo to pick them up and drive them straight to our showroom.
As the limo pulled up, Chloe recognized our jewelry store’s
name and immediately broke into tears. John likes to say Chloe went into “complete
hysteria” when she saw he had secretly purchased the Art Deco diamond ring,
especially since she was told the ring had been sold months ago—it fit her
perfectly.
Swept again away into the waiting limo, the couple headed to
New York City for two days and a stay at one of New York’s exquisite hotels.
Still, John had not forgotten his promise to take Chloe to London and this time
produced genuine travel documents so they could finish their European trip as
planned only this time, the couple was engaged and love was in the air—literally!
This dream proposal was exciting, exhilarating and a
well-kept secret by John and Peter Suchy and his staff. We are happy we were
able to be part of this “secret proposal” but above all, we’re overjoyed Chloe
said, yes, John’s plans worked out as planned, and that Chloe now wears the Art
Deco diamond ring she always wanted.
We just have one question—when’s the wedding?
