We Match Our Jewelry to Actress Halle Berry’s Jewelry

There is magic within actress Halle Berry. Her ease of changing from a “Catwoman” to a “down-on-her-luck-gal” in Monster’s Ball  to her Golden Globe performance for the TV movie Introducing Dorothy Dandridge left move-goers mesmerized. With over 30 films to her credit, this five foot, five-inch actress is packed with talent.

Halle Berry was born August 14, 1966 in Cleveland Ohio and her given name is Halle Maria Berry. Her beauty comes from her parents—her father an African American and her mother of European-American descent. In her early career, Halle was all about beauty pageants and in 1985, she won the Miss Teen All-American Pageant. A year later in 1986, she was the first runner up in the Miss U.S.A. Pageant. Soon she tuned to modeling and also took small roles on TV such as Living Dolls. Her big silver screen break came in Spike Lee’s Jungle Fever (1991) where she played quite the convincing crack addict—it is said Berry didn’t bathe for days to prepare for the role.

Other roles were offered and her most noted were Bulworth (1998), Introducing Dorothy Dandridge (1999), Catwoman (2004), her roles in the X-Men series of movies and of course her Oscar-winning performance in Monster’s Ball (2002) co-starring Billy Bob Thornton.  Halle remains busy and is one of the highest paid actresses in Hollywood today.

Berry was married three times to David Justice (1993-1997), Eric Benet (2001-20050 and was recently married to Olivier Martinez (2013).

Some interesting tidbits about Halle Berry include that she is a Type I diabetic, and plead no contest to a May 2000 misdemeanor charge—leaving the scene of a traffic accident—the fine was $13,500. Halle turned down the role of Annie in Speed (1994) which went to Sandra Bullock. In high school Halle was not only the prom queen, she was the editor of the school’s newspaper and a member of the National Honor Society.

Halle made history being the first African American actress to win a Best Actress Oscar in a Leading Role (Monster’s Ball 2002). Hattie McDaniel was the first African American to win a Best Actress Oscar in a supporting role for Gone With the Wind (1939).

Apparently film producers and directors like pairing up Halle with actor Hugh Jackman. They have co-starred in six movies together including X-Men (2000), Swordfish (2001), X2 (2003), X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), Move 43 (2013) and X-Men: Days of Future Past to be released in 2014.
